While this foundation will always carry Jason’s name, and while Jason will always be at the heart of why it was created, I have felt a deep pull that its purpose is meant to reach beyond just one story. Jason’s life, service, and sacrifice are the reason this foundation began, and that will never change. But in that, I also feel called to create something that honors not only him, but all fallen officers and the families whose lives are forever changed by their loss. That is why we will be transitioning to JWR Protect and Serve.

This change is not about moving away from Jason — it is about allowing his legacy to grow. It is about making space for his name to continue doing what he stood for: protecting, serving, and making an impact that reaches far beyond one life. Through JWR Protect and Serve, we hope to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice, while also standing beside the families, departments, and communities left to carry that grief.

JWR Protect and Serve is a nonprofit organization that provides donations to law enforcement agencies to help protect officers while they are on duty. Those donations may include equipment, training, and financial support. At its core, this foundation is about action, remembrance, and love — honoring those we have lost by helping protect those who are still out there serving every day.

This year our foundation’s focus will be on the Tremonton, Utah police officers who tragically lost their lives on August 17, 2025, while responding to a domestic violence call: Officer Eric Estrada and Sgt. Lee Sorenson. While they left this earth far too soon, their courage, bravery, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Their legacy lives on in the lives they touched, in the communities they served, and in the love that continues to surround their families and fellow officers.

It is our prayer that this foundation becomes a way to keep these names, these lives, and these sacrifices close to our hearts — not just in memory, but in meaningful action. Jason will always be the reason this began, but this next chapter is about honoring even more heroes, loving even more families well, and making sure their sacrifice continues to matter for years to come.
